Hi all,

A little update which will only interest current and future owners of an Oculus rift.
TF has made OR work with Cliffs. There are still a few caveats (listed bellow) but for what is worth, it is working.

Here’s a little demo (sorry, can’t make a video because of the way it works) of how it looks ingame. To see it you will need Firefox (I think Chrome also works) and your VR viewer. I’ve tested it only with OR but it is supposed to work with cardboard and whatnot.

Now the caveats:
1.- The 2d things like map, chat etc, are hard to read. Because of how they are rendered, when you move your head the windows move with you so if the map is at the left of your viewing area, it will always be there. The solution is centering it but you also have to view it with one eye as the 3D effect doesn’t work well.
2.- Originally buildings where rendering in one eye only. This was fixed but, of course, it means double the rendering stress and lower FPS.
3.- Aiming is hard. Changing focus from instruments (close) to gunsight (far) takes some time to get used to. Also, because of the reflector size, the gunsight is only shown fully on one eye at the time. If anyone has documentation on this, it would be appreciated as it feels weird.
4.- Spotting distant planes is harder. Even though the “single pixel” far contact can be seen for miles, the “screen door” effect makes them harder to spot. Also identifying closer contacts is harder because of the OR resolution. In any case, the zoom helps with both issues but keep in mind that zooming is not supposed to be done with VR so don’t try to look at the instruments when zoomed as you will feel like when looking at something really close where each eye sees something completely different
5.- FPS is and is not an issue. Yes, higher FPS gives a smoother feeling but, thanks to the OR timewarp, one can be on the deck, over London with 13 FPS and not get seasick.
Sidenote: is funny how the timewarp works. You need to send 90fps to the OR for it to work but it is supposed to be there to help when lower FPS so as always with modding liffs, a trick had to be done

All that said, it feels great to be inside the cockpit!

All the above means that there’s a 90% probability OR support will be included in TF5.0

PS: For those wondering and without going into much details, no, it was not even close to easy to do and yes, it required making Cliffs work with DX11.

– Multiplayer basic admin tools:
Added simple admin commands using the chat window. It is important to set the “ADMIN_PASSWORD” in the server_cfg.ini file, an empty ADMIN_PASSOWORD will disable admin commands./help: prints the list of the available commands
/admin: become administrator for the server. ex, if the password is “kunos” the command is “/admin kunos”
/next_session: moves to next session
/restart_session: restart the session
/kick: kick a user using the rules (blacklist etc) of the server. To kick a player named “The Player”: /kick The Player- GT2 and GT3 cars, F.Abarth, Exos and Exos S1, M3 E30 GrA and DTM have now the modified tyre model
– LaFerrari has modified active aero and tyre model
– BMW M3 E30 street car has modified tyres (all compounds) as an example of street tyres new model.
– GT2 and GT3 cars have now the “old” FFB gain settings in their physics. Obviously the min FFB slider still works on them too. Please try and report back
– Zonda R, Huayra, 599XX have now tyres that are more load sensitive and more speed sensitive. Laptimes should be slower. Please give feedback on driving feel. Keep in mind you’re going to be slower, give it some time.
– Minimum FF force implemented. Can provoke STRONG vibrations in the center zone, use as low as possible!
– All cars have new FF gain values to eliminate FF clipping. You might need to raise your FF gain values on your configuration or add a bit of minimum. Advice 0.12 for logitech wheels, much lower for other wheels. Experiment and report on beta forums
– Difficulty level slider on career
– Much more laps possible on single player quick and weekend races when fuel consuption is off
– Added diffuser stall on low speed for tatuus formula Abarth.

Fuselage drag sound
The fuselage speaks even more to you during hard, fast maneuvers where the air is pushing hard on the fuselage. Recorded from the cockpit of high performance jet aircraft when manuevering and tuned in FSX.

Stall instability physics slider added
You can add more instability to the wings and airframe when entering into a stall. The default position is 0, but moving the sider to the right reduces the lift stability making stalls more challenging to handle when this characteristic is desired.

Bigger aircraft have a deeper brake ‘groan’
The larger the aircraft that Accu-Feel detects, the deeper the brake squeals and groans will be. Tubeliners benefit most from this enhancement.

Open cockpit checkbox added
For those who like to fly open cockpit aircraft, all you need to do is check this box and Accu-Feel will remember this setting for each aircraft.

Support all sliders to be OFF when set to the LEFT or RIGHT
Moving a slider all the way left will give visual confirmation that the effect is disabled.

Improved physics management for future expansions
This is pure “under the hood” benefits to Accu-Feel and not noticeable on the surface, but we’ve streamlined and organized the code to better support planned future expansions.
